Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley offers short-term foster care for newborns as a resource for both pregnancy counseling clients and adoptive families.
For women who are receiving pregnancy counseling at CSSMV, foster care is available if more time is needed for decision-making. Foster families open their homes and hearts to provide safe, loving care for infants while their parents continue with counseling. While in one of our special foster homes, weekly visits are offered to the parents. Medical care is provided for the baby, and all of his or her needs are met.
For women choosing adoption, foster care is provided to allow for counseling and legal issues to be resolved.
A careful and gradual transition is made when a child returns home to the birth family or joins an adoptive family. Many prospective adoptive parents also choose to become licensed foster parents. This process minimizes any adjustment difficulties in the best interests of the child.
Foster parents at CSSMV are licensed by the State of Ohio and receive regular training and supervision. Although they are paid a small amount daily, our foster parents provide care for babies because they love children and want to provide a positive service for our community.
