  Services for Refugees

When refugee families arrive in the United States in search of new lives, they often have nothing. Immediately after their arrival, refugees need assistance in finding housing, household furnishings, transportation, medical care, and employment. They also need help to learn the English language. Refugees often come from Liberia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and from the border area of Russia and Turkey.

With the help of volunteers and sponsors, including assistance with finding early employment, most families can quickly become self-sufficient.

Refugees have shown great courage by fleeing known dangers and beginning new lives where they have no roots or resources. You can offer caring support when they arrive. Please consider helping as a volunteer, sponsor, or as a helping congregation.

A Catholic Social Services staff member works closely with refugee sponsors. CSSMV has served the refugee population for over 50 years.
