The Respite Care program of Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley is designed to provide temporary relief and support for families who care for dependent elderly adults at home. Respite Care strives to lessen the stress associated with constant care giving, encouraging families to continue caring for their elderly members at home. Trained volunteers provide weekly respite for the primary caregiver.

The program serves families who live in Montgomery County and have no other alternatives for relief. The elderly person needing care must be 60 years or older.

Respite Care services are provided free of charge. Families are encouraged to donate a small amount per hour of service if they are able. Caregivers must want the service and be willing to provide staff with necessary information. The primary caregiver and the elderly person are asked to sign a waiver of liability.
