Respite Care
The Respite Care program is designed to provide temporary relief and support for families who care for dependent elderly adults at home. Respite Care strives to lessen the stress associated with 24-hour daily care giving, making it possible for families to continue caring for their elderly loved ones at home. Trained volunteers provide weekly respite for the primary caregiver for three to four hours each week. Volunteers offer companionship, supervision and some assist with personal care, meals, and monitor medication. All volunteers are trained by CSS and receive a background check.
Eligibility
Respite Care is free to families whose income-eligible, frail elderly person is being cared for in the home and resides in Montgomery or parts of Greene County. The elderly person requiring care must be 60 years of age or older. This is a free service; however, families are encouraged to donate a nominal amount if they are able.
Referrals
Referrals are accepted from friends or family members, churches, home health agencies and community partners. Self-referrals are also encouraged.
